Special Events
Special events have not launched yet: they are coming in early 2027. Right now we run our regular events: see your city’s page for the dates. When they launch, this is how they work.
Each special event gets its own night and its own ticket. We’ll rotate them: whatever the theme, or a collaboration with a non-dancing organisation for their members, and we announce each one ahead of time, so you always know who an event is for before you book. An event can carry its own age band, a min to max range: the bands change from event to event on purpose, because it opens the door to meeting different age spectrums. An event can carry a tag too, Singles or Couples, to cater for different audiences. It is about connection, not technique.
- Each event has its own format, and its listing states what the ticket includes, such as food or a drinks coupon. Some events include neither, and the listing says so.
- The learning format can differ per event too, and each event states its own. The general learning programme is on our Learning page.
- Your own space: you are never dropped into a class of experienced dancers.
Tickets
A ticket is for one event, paid up front when you book. There is no subscription and no course to commit to; you book the date you want to come.
Tickets come in four shapes: Leader, Follower, Pair and solo. Which shapes an event sells is shown with its tickets when they go on sale. Most events sell Leader and Follower tickets, with separate allocations so the room stays balanced. A Couples event sells a Pair only: one Leader and one Follower booked together, never individually, so the room balances itself. A solo ticket carries no role at all.
New to Leader and Follower? The leader proposes the moves and the follower responds; neither is harder, and neither is tied to gender. Pick the one you want to dance: that is the role you dance at the event. At events sold as Leader and Follower, every ticket counts to one side, which is what keeps the room even, and if one side sells out, the other stays on sale.
We never ask for your gender, at booking or at the door. Roles are not gendered, and where an event mixes partners you may well dance with someone of the same gender; if one of you would rather not, say so and move on. Nobody has to accept a dance, and “no thank you” is a complete answer.
Anyone 18 or over can buy a ticket, including our existing dance members, as long as they are inside the event’s age band when it has one. Membership does not include it: a member books and pays like anyone else.
Special events are 18+, and we do check
The age band is optional: when we restrict an event, it is for that band only, and no event ever goes below 18. The same rule applies to everyone, including our own dance members. Photo ID is checked at the door against the name on the booking, and your date of birth is checked against that event’s band, or against 18+ when it has none, so bring it.
Outside an event’s band? You are still very welcome here. Our dance classes and social events are open to all adults, and the door team will point you their way: see Learning and your city’s page for what it costs.
